Working as a freelancer gives me the advantage to own my time and that means I can always have the opportunity to play anytime I want. I always love tycoon and time management games and there is not a day where I do not try and play one. Lately, I had played Shop Empire, an online tycoon game that really got me hooked up.
What is so special about this game is that it gives you an opportunity to manage shops and boutiques and eventually an entire mall. There are three locations to build your mall. You start off in Paris then Tokyo and lastly in New York. First, you need to build affordable shops like drug store, baby shop, bookstore, clothing boutique, ice cream station and burger store and start earning. Then, if you are able to earn bigger profits you can then build bigger and more expensive stores like a café, jewelry store and a hall where you can hold events like art exhibit, electronic show and live concert.
There are also support structures that you need to build like restrooms and elevators. You will need to construct elevators in order to build additional floors and access upper floors. You will need to upgrade these support buildings in order to increase their capacity especially when your mall gets bigger. Additionally, you also need to upgrade shops, boutiques as well as the event hall in order to increase alarm efficiency, reduce electricity problem and increase your income.
In addition to managing your shops, you will also have to hire employees which include cleaning staff, technician and security agent. It is advisable that instead of hiring many employees, you can promote your worker to increase their working capability. You will also need to designate their work area to cover the whole floor of the mall. Security agents are very important because at nighttime, thieves will come out and you need to catch these burglars otherwise, they can leave you penniless and if your income is below zero for two nights straight then it is game over. So just prioritized promoting your agents, so this won’t happen and you can continue on your game.
Once you completed the required achievements in the first location, then you can proceed to the next one. Shops and stores like toy store, steak n’ grill, sushi bar, beauty salon, game center, movie cinema and supermarket are added. Celebrities like ‘Faris Hilton’, ‘Justin Meiber’ and ‘Lady Gogo’ would visit your mall and they increases popularity and income. You will eventually need to build another elevator and restrooms as your mall gets bigger, otherwise shoppers will not be happy and they will complain a lot which would mean less income.
Although it seems too much to handle but it is pretty much manageable especially once you get the hang of it and know your way around. Overall, the game is quite very engaging and it really gives you the experience of managing a shopping mall although it might be far from the real thing.
